Can you do me a flavor?

Tonight, we celebrated lots of good things:
  1. Mimi is finally through with all of the testing and DOES NOT have any cancer. Acutally, we believe she was healed by God, as the mass they were scheduled to biopsy was no longer present when the doctors went for the needle biopsy.
  2. Mimi is home from the hospital on oxygen, but temporarily.
  3. Our friends, Thomas and Heather, both got good reports from their recent doctors' visits, which we had been praying about
  4. Thomas was able to save all the pics that L deleted or something from our computer.
  5. My wonderful, sweet father-in-law turned 56 today.
Our celebration consisted of having Nana and GrandTam (special take on the nickname his mom had for his dad) over for a wonderful steak dinner with strawberry shortcake for dessert. The kiddos loved playing "Trouble" after supper, even though they are both coughing and feeling slightly under the weather.
  • C and I ran a million and 2 errands while L was a school today. All the while, I'm trying to encourage her not to potty in her Dora (pull-up). I don't like those pull-ups as a rule, but someone gave me 2 packs...and who am I to turn away FREE diapers?? So, we'll be finishing the pack, then hitting real undies again hard and heavy...I want to get this potty training thing knocked out. But, I digress. Anyway, in the middle of Wal-Mart, C decides she cannot ride in the buggy one more second, lest she have a screaming fit. So, out she begins to climb...our compromise was to let her push the cart. That actually consists of me pushing the cart while making sure she thinks she's doing it by herself, and then chasing her back to the cart when she lets go and runs. It sounds as if she's in control of the situation, but really, I'm sure it could fall into some category of letting her be in charge of something or whatever. I didn't care which child development theory I was following, I just wanted OUT of Wal-Mart!!!
  • One of the cutest things L says is, "Mommy, can you do me a flavor, please?" I love hearing him ask for a favor. It's precious.
  • C broke a snow globe, bracelet, cup, and managed to pour water all over herself during what was supposed to be naptime. I needed a nap today. After breaking the snowglobe (which was a nativity scene that my mom, Tee, gave C for her first Christmas), C kept telling everyone, "I broke Baby Jesus" which got more than one funny look.
  • One of Daddy's fave things that C says is, "Look at my muscles, look at my muscles!" while holding her fists up. It's the intonation that's so adorable. Muscles sounds like Muh-chools.
  • L managed to delete every digital picture that I had saved on our computer of his sister. Don't know how only her folder and our family picture folders were affected, but luckily, our tech wiz friend saved them so I didn't have to spend a million dollars on an archive cd from shutterfly.
  • I'm exhausted by the re-cap...and I'm dreading taking the babes to the doc tomorrow...better do it before the weekend rush, though!

It's been a while...

Ok, so it's been a while. We've had some crazy times around here...My hubby's grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer, then undiagnosed, then told maybe it is cancer, maybe it's not...Meanwhile, we've had family in from out-of-town visiting her...

Anyway, L and C have enjoyed visits with their aunts, uncle and cousins, birthday parties, church, etc.

  • C was hiding under the table while L finished lunch today. They were playing the game, "Where is C?" Finally, she pops out, "Here me are!"
  • After rushing around to get us out the door for church, for which we are already 10 min. late, C takes her hair bow and "piggy tail" out while I'm driving us to church for the early morning nursury duty. I told her to stop, rather sharply (too sharply, I think now). L tells me, "Mommy it's ok to be frustrated with me, but don't be frustrated with C. She's just our little baby girl." Ok, so I felt lower than pond scum! Who cares when we get to church if I've hurt my baby girl and sweet man's feelings on the way??? Needless to say, I apologized.
  • C loved on her cousin Jackson who is 10 months younger (Just turned 1 this month) all weekend. She'd stand by him, hug him and say, "Ooo, I love you buddy!"
  • C is so into taking care of her baby dolls; she does it just like me, too...pushing the stroller with bags on the handles, baby on the hip and purse on the shoulder. Too cute! Then she changes their diapers..."Dis baby gots a bad shoo-wee."
  • L has been so good to share his toys all weekend. He also has really been taking care of C. When his big cousin Joshua started to open C's door during her nap, L came running to stand between him and the door. "No, no, no...we can't wake up my sister. She needs to sleep."
  • C had taken off her own "shoo-wee" in the kitchen this morning (messy, yucky, gross), and was trying to go to the potty on her own. Then, after that crisis was handled, busted her lip...all before 8:30!
  • C can pick up any song. Right now, after just hearing the beginning of "Go, Diego, Go!" 2 times, she's got the words and tune down! Amazing.
  • L told me while we were discussing what to buy his cousin Harrison for his birthday this weekend, "Hey, I know what we should get Harrison. We should get him a Diego movie. That kid LOVES Deigo!" I also should note that I love the way L says Diego...It's more like "THe EGGO."

Virus, part 2

Ugh...the virus that we thought we avoided struck...with a vengence! L woke up in our bed vomiting at 3:30 am...and then I began vomiting around 4 am...He and I literallly laid in his bed all day after I sent Dad and C away. Every time we moved, we got sick! UGH!!
So the rest of the weekend and most of today is trying to get every little nook and cranny clean and virus free.

  • While lying in his bed with him, L looked at me and said, "Thanks for helping me get that virus out. I'm sorry I throwed up all in your bed. I promise I won't do it anymore." Of course I reassured him that it wasn't anything he did wrong, but sweet all the same.
  • L reminding me to get up slowly every time I move since Saturday.
  • C asking me and L is we are sick every few minutes.
  • C loves "Little Einstein's" on Disney Channel. She'll sit and watch without moving, then she tries to sing all the songs, too.
  • C loves the "Elmo's World" portion of Seasme Street, too. But only the parts when Elmo is actually on the screen. All the other parts of that segment are worthless to her. She starts saying, "Where Eh-moh go, Mommy? Eh-moh go off. Put Eh-moh back on, Mommy. I want to watch Eh-moh."

I missed a day!

Ok, so yesterday was very busy! After completely laundering everything machine washable, and cloroxing and spraying everything else with lysol, my day got away from me, thus, no post!

Anyway, C is much better...was better yesterday afternoon, even. Daddy is back home, so both kiddos are better in that regard.

Highlights include:

  • L being tall enough to reach our light switches...no more hollering from the top of the stairs for me to turn his light off or on, whichever is needed at the time. He is so excited about this accomplishment. Growing up fast!
  • C is such a trooper, even with a virus the gal did not lose one ounce of her personality. She did slow to a walk from her usual trot-sprint mode.
  • When L was trying to comfort C about having to have a suppository (YUCK! Poor Baby), he told her a story about when he was her age. Here was their conversation: C to me," I no like that medicine in my bottom." L to C, "I know, C, when I was your age I had a virus and I did not like that medicine in my bottom. It is not fun to have a virus. I know because I had one when I was your age." As if the 22 months separating them is chocked full of wisdom! :) Too cute. What is even funnier is that they kept having this same conversation until C forgot about the suppository. Anyway, it worked. She slept all night and did not get sick again.
  • L brought me the bowl of grapes I had washed for my snack last night (without being asked) and gave me a kiss and said, "Just rewax {translation: relax} and enjoy your snack."
  • C loves to play in her kitchen...When I tell her it is time for bed, she says, "I play in my kin-chin 1 time (holding up 3 fingers)," every night before we say her prayers and read her book. She still does not put up a fuss, though. She prays for everyone, and then says, "I love you. We go pahk morrow?"

I Spilt it, Mommy!

  • C woke up from her nap screaming, "I spilt it, Mommy!" She had, in fact, spilt it...vomit, that is. Poor baby has a virus and is pitiful,
  • L is being an angel about me caring for her and has prayed for her to get better 2 time already.
  • Daddy is out of town, so it's me and the kiddos tonight...
  • It's cold outside, so I'm guessing L will be snuggled in my bed...trying to figure out how to do C...her bedding is still being washed from her naptime adventure...

Monday

  • I love that at almost 2, C finally has enough hair for pig tails and little ponytails to put a bow in...adorable!
  • I do not love that she will now throw outrageous tantrams over nothing, but I know this stage will go by so quickly
  • L doesn't like to go to bed...at least not in his bed. He wears me down every night, and he ends up in my bed regardless of where he starts off going to sleep. SO, instead of waking up to a scream from him in the middle of the night (and an almost 2-year-old waking up b/c her brother is screaming at the top of the stairs, just steps away from her room), sometimes it's easier just to let him start off in our bed and let me get a full night's sleep...He's there now, all cozy on my pillow.
  • I cannot get over the fact that in April, my baby boy is going to be 4! I'm having a hard time adjusting to this...my mom was right, when they start school, they grow up so much. I mean, we're talking T-ball and Soccer and Kindergarten, and College and getting married...Ok, so I'm getting ahead of myself. But 4 means big boy...even at church, all the big-kid activities start at four. They aren't even considered pre-school when they are in the fours. UGH! Will all of the magic go away when 4 hits?? You know, make-believe and wonder at Disneyworld (which we've yet to go, but I'm still hoping that when we do go, they'll experience the magic of it all like I remember doing) and Christmas and Easter... I hope not!!
  • C is getting 2 molars on the bottom...waking up in the middle of the night...which she never does, running a slight temp, has a runny nose, and is constantly chewing on her finger.
  • C loves to sing...tonight we sang "Open, shut them..." and learned "Where is Thumbkin?"
  • I love to hear C say, "Destroy Buzz Lightyear" when she's pretending to be Zurg in the bathtub with L's Toy Story set. It sounds like, "A-soy Buuh Li-lear."

My little man is back home!

  • Met my mom after church in Macon to pick up L, who didn't really want to come home. I was very ready to see him, and he hugged me really tightly, thus melting my heart.
  • C was ready to see Tee, and latched onto her as soon as she saw her.
  • L and C played pretty well together, with the normal terrorization of each other as I cooked supper. C always get L aggravated by taking some toy of his and running...tonight it was some pennies Papa had given him. It's good to have everyone home!

Saturday

  • L is having a ball with Tee, visiting family down there, doing everything he wants, being the KING!
  • L doesn't miss us a bit, but C has missed him. We've called a couple of times for her to talk. He told us he's staying for lots of nights.
  • C is having fun with us, doing everything she wants, being the QUEEN
  • We took C to the Georgia Tech basketball game tonight after dinner at Houstons with our friends who live on the north side of Atlanta. She loved all of the excitement and didn't stop cheering the entire time!
  • She's still into the Christmas songs...except she only knows just a line or two. So "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer" sounds like "Rudolph red nose had a 'berry' shiny" and that's it...over and over and over. Jingle bells is "Jinkle bells, jinkle bells, jinkle bells, jinkle bells, jinkle bells" with the occasional "all the way" thrown in. She sang all the way home.
  • Now, she's sitting right beside me, her head on my shoulder, in her favorite big-girl night gown having a little snack and telling me how much she loves me! Adorable...and she's being the queen!
  • C also loves to play "Run, duck goose" as she calls Duck Duck Goose...and her version is just running all over.

Happy Friday?

  • L, C and I drove 2 hours and 30 min to meet Tee (my mom) so L could spend the weekend with her all by himself. He's been planning this since C was born...not that he doesn't love his sister, he just loves Tee's undivided attention
  • C wore the cutest pigtails...my best efforts yet
  • When I was telling L that I would miss him this weekend, he told me "I will call you so you won't miss me. I certainly will." He called me when we were pulling out of the parking lot after telling my mom he had to call me so I wouldn't be sad. He also called me and told me not to drive too fast after "ratting me out" to my mother that I drive too fast...according to him
  • C got a surprise visit with Nana to make not staying with Tee a little easier. She loves Nana's cats...even gave out kisses to Oscar and Puff...and practically got a bath afterwards to remove the kitty fur from her face...yikes!
  • C didn't really notice L wasn't with us and that she wasn't with Tee b/c she enjoyed a new Pez dispenser and the entire pack of candy, watching the Grinch about 3 times on the way back and playing with some bracelets and necklaces she received from Christmas that I hadn't opened for her yet
  • Speaking of necklaces, C constantly tries to get into a jewelry box in her room containing my old necklaces. She got several out this morning and tangled them...she got scolded and kept hugging me after we cleaned them up and saying, "Sorry, Mommy." She's so darn cute, so I adorned her with a cross necklace Nanny and Papa gave me...Too sweet!
  • C is the best kiddo to put to bed ever...EVER! Read book, say prayers, rock for a second to talk about the day, put her in the bed, give her a kiss, tell her I love her, hear her say, "I love you, Mommy. Sweet Dweems!" Can they both just stay this age forever???

Another Thursday

  • L went to pre-school, but we almost forgot show-and-tell...and we were late again. So, C and I walked L in, where he realized we forgot show-and-tell. Not to worry...in the car was a Lightning McQueen (Radiator Springs McQueen to be exact). While I ran out in the cold to get it, C stayed in L's classroom with his teachers and other students...loved every minute
  • L and C stayed with Daddy tonight while I went to my prayer group...L called me on my cell...he was missing me...Precious!
  • C ate nothing for supper, while L ASKED for Veggies!!
  • C pottied in the potty again today!!!
  • C runs to meet me at the sitters but really turns before she reaches me to get a lollypop out of Maw's cabinet (the treat for the end of the day away from Mommy)...my princess loves her candy!! She can finish the dum-dum in about 2 minutes, literally!

Wednesday, Wednesday

Here are the highlights for today:

  • L went to pre-school...where he is learning about the letter "L"--a very exciting thing for him
  • Nana and L had a lunch date after school at Chick-fil-A...(a favorite of ours!) and then went to visit Mimi and Granpop
  • Played his favorite game that drives his daddy crazy...Kitty...when he pretends to be a cat and only answers with "Meows!" But, it was OK b/c Daddy was at the GT v. Duke basketball game in Atlanta. He gets extremely into his character...which is hillarious!
  • C and I ran a million errands, and she was a dream!
  • Loves her mini-barrettes in her barely there hair (actually it's the "Rachel" hairstyle that's so popular, just in the baby version...crazy how their hair grows...L has always had a ton of thick dark hair...C's is baby fine
  • Took a wonderful nap and gained enough energy to go crazy with the dolls and kitchen...
  • Pottied in the potty again!

Trying to remember

I'm beginning this blog to keep up with the little things I want to remember about our days...

  • L went to preschool today...I can't believe that his first year (3 yr. class) is halfway done. Had a ball playing with his cousin at the sitters...He's really learning his letters...and wanting to write and draw and cut. Still hates to sleep in his bed. Bedtime is an ordeal every night
  • C went to the potty all day today at the sitters...without prompting-an amazing feat for a not-quite 2-year-old! Yay! She goes to bed without a fuss every night! Gotta love that for second babies...
I still want one more little one, hubby still says he's comfortable... we'll see.
