Oh, wow! It's been a while...and yes, we've been sick again. I'm now considering a continual mist of vitimin C along with a round of strong anitbiotics, homeopathics, etc...just kidding.
Seriously, though...C starting with the stomach thing AGAIN...while we were in Louisiana at my friends' home. Let me tell you, it was wild, trying to keep her away from everyone else. No one else got sick until we got home. Then my other girlfriend's daughter started throwing up when she got out of the car at her house. Hers only lasted that evening and night. C threw up about 5 times on Sunday night while we were gone, then once we got the medicine that our pediatrician called in, she seemed better and went on to sleep through the night. The next two days were fine...just some runny diapers. Then...when we got home, LOTS of yucky diapers, so potty training has been put on hold until we're definitely over this stuff.
Other news, L's class valentine party was fun. A little more chaotic than I would have liked (being a former teacher, I like the parties nice and oderly...), but the kids had fun.
L is now praying for our friends in Louisiana to move back to our town. He misses his buddy so much. The kiddos played together SO WELL! It was wonderful...we had plenty of girlfriend time, which is what the mommies all needed!
Hubby is feeling better, so that's great news!
Our church just moved into our first permanant facility...it's wonderful! God is so faithful!
Our tax return is a nice one this year, so I'm getting a few things done around the house. After I come home from my friend's house, I always want to redecorate and organize. She's a homemaking inspiration. :) So far, I've cleaned out L's closet and drawers, purchased things to organize the playroom area, cleaned out our den's cabinets, put more photos in albums and labeled them, and hung some pictures. Still have lots to do, but I'm now in a get-it-done mode.
I can't beleive that my baby will be 2 next week! Time truly flies...still think we should add one more to our family, but if we don't I am so grateful and honored to be the mommy to these two angels.
C is cracking me up right now. She tells me all the time that she's going to "Disney World a-morrow. I gone fwy and fwy like Tinkah-Bell. I Tinkah-Bell, you Wenny, Mommy, and L is Petah Pan, OK?" She gets so incredibly animated talking about it that she actually fell out of her chair one day. (Don't worry, she didn't get hurt!) Precious!
Our biggest news right now is that my baby boy is going to bed without a fuss and without anyone laying with him until he falls asleep. It's close to miraculous for me. It started while we were on our trip. We stayed in my friend's son's room, me on the twin bed, L on the trundle and C in the pack-n-play. I'd put C down when my friend put her 1 year old in her bed, and the boys would play for a few more minutes. Meanwhile, my other girlfriend who lives in our town, would be getting her 5 year old little girl (who doesn't nap anymore) to sleep when the babies were going down for the night. Then, I'd just get L settled in his bed after a book and prayers. He'd fall asleep on his own knowing I'd be in there later and that his sister was in the room with him. We made a big deal out of it, and it all has continued since we've been home. Yay!
Gotta go tackle some laundry!

Pneumonia Strikes
Ok, so my last post was few days ago, but I have a really good excuse! My husband has not had the flu; instead, he has pneumonia!!! Needless to say, he hasn't felt good at all. Then in my denial about my sickness, I ended up with bronchitis. Thank goodness the in-laws weren't busy this weekend...they kept the kiddos so hubby and I could lie around and be miserable! Yay in-laws!
L went with me to a class tonight I have to take to keep my teaching certification. He really did great. He made his little valentine's for his first Valentine's Day party at school tomorrow. Cute! He had to go potty 2 times, but otherwise he did great, being really careful to whisper and play right on the floor beside me. Good job L!
Anyway, we got home to C saying "It's balemtimes amorrow." Too cute!
We have our trip planned, along with our dining...we're having a character breakfast on Wednesday and visiting the Animal Kingdom that day, too. I'm super excited...no one in the family has ever been.Yay!
Also, I've gotten half of C's 2nd b-day invites printed. I'm aiming to get those printed tomorrow and in the mail Thurs... I still can't believe she's going to be 2! Nothing major...just a purse themed party...cake and ice cream ONLY!
We're headed to my friends in Louisiana on Friday. The mommies can't wait. We know it's a wild trip...long drive, whiny children at times, no time to sit down...until they go to bed!!! Then, we can have our girlfriend time (which, coincidentally, is when we plan our trips without the kiddos!). Having mixed emotions about going all the sudden since hubby's been so sick. Hope he's better...wouldn't want to leave him feeling bad still! He hates to go to bed alone, so going to be alone and sick wouldn't be fair! It's nice to be so loved!!! :)
Here's my to-do list for tomorrow:

Still Sick??????
Well, the germies have officially declared our home their welcome center or club house or something, b/c we just can't get well! (Apparently, no amount of clorox...and my bleeding, dry, cracked hands will defeat these germs.) Hubby now has the flu...complete with fever, chills, horrible cough, tummy yuckies. L and C are on antibiotics for nasty cold/sinus infections (read not 1 but 2 trips to the pediatrician...ugh!) But I, although feeling exhausted, tightness in my chest, aching, hurting when I cough, WILL NOT GET SICK! Do you hear me, germies...???
In other news, we are in the process of finalizing our first ever family trip to Disney World...I am beyond excited! I grew up going to Disney every year, if not 2 times each year with my parents. And, b/c I was a lonely only, my folks always brought a friend with us. Our trips were always great, posh resort, room service, spoiling beyond belief. How they afforded it, I'll never know... My mom tells me it just wasn't as expensive as it is now. I know better, as they always sacrificed when it came to our family. Anyway,my last trip was 10 years ago (A DECADE!), and I'm ready to get back to the magic and introduce it to my L and C. Besides that, Hubby and I have never been together. We planned a trip for the April just after we were engaged in March, but didn't get to go as then Hubby-to-be broke his foot playing church softball. Really, all things considered it was a blessing. Wouldn't want to take a trip together alone when we were that close to being married. Saved parents and grandparents the heart attacks and tsk, tsks from others. :)
Last night, my mother-in-law, L and C's Nana, informed me that my son "ratted me out" when he spent Tues. night at their house. He told his Nana that I talk "mean" to him. She told me that she knew that sometimes grown-ups lose their tempers, but that she knew I would apologize to him if I said something mean. She also told him that she didn't think I would talk mean to him very often b/c I'm just such a nice person (Thanks, Nana!). He told her I did apologize, but that I hit him sometimes. (What???Thanks a lot, buddy, for making me a monster...me, who is as patient as I can be with him, and spank once in a while, only!) Well, Nana got a hoot out of this exchange and she explained that if mommies and daddies spank their children for doing something wrong or unsafe, then it's spanking and spanking is different than hitting, etc. So, of course, when Nana tells me what L says she and I laugh, but I kinda wanted to know what/when he was talking about, as much as an almost-four-year-old can tell me. So, I asked L about it...he told me not to worry, he was just speaking Spanish to Nana and she didn't understand what he was saying. He said he knows I don't hit him and I'm not ugly to him...Great... now not only am I a violent, verbally abusive parent (Ha!) my kids a FIBBER! :) Always something! Seriously, it made for a funny story.
Last night's grocery run was not fun. Hubby at home sick, so the kids and I go...I'm trying to get it done as quickly as possible, but those great (read HORRIBLE) car shopping carts are impossible to steer. L and C are done with their sample cheese in about 2 aisles...b/c the store is PACKED. It takes forever b/c I'm doing my shopping and sweet Maw's (72-year-old friend who sometimes watches the kiddos) shopping as well. So, after C trying to climb out about 17 times, screaming that she's got a shoo-ee (she doesn't) and L continually poking, pinching or hitting her. I'm about to lose it. Right there. In Publix. Well, then comes check-out. Why, why, why is the candy there? DO they have to torture the mommies??? Are they really against us??? It is at this time that C decides to debut her dumping skills...you know, dumping the candy boxes into the cart, dumping my purse out onto the floor, dumping my credit cards out into the buggy. SO as I'm trying to stop this madness, L starts to whine and complain about wanting more of some kind of junk. I tell him, "No, not now." C then demonstrates her other favorite skill, singing at the top of her lungs. Her favorite song right now is "Jingle Bells, Shotgun Shells, Granny had a gun!" which she belted out loudly. Meanwhile her brother is crying his eyes out after I told him he hurt my feelings by telling me he didn't like me any more (after I told him that we could not pick up any candy.) L kept saying, "Please talk to me Mommy. Please, please. I won't say ugly things to you anymore." I tried to tell him we'd talk about it in the car (anything to get out of the store before my actual breakdown began and the nervous twitching started, ha! ha!) to no avail. So by the time the poor bag guy got our bags loaded, he looked rather dazed. I did turn around to check as we were pulling out of the parking lot that Publix was still standing. It was. We didn't completely destroy it...We'll just put that on our to-do list for the next trip! :)
When I got home and relayed just a small portion of the story to Hubby, he smirked at me and said, "You enjoy the chaos, remember? You want another baby, remember?" UGH! Get that smirk off your face!! I still do...just not tonight!
Otherwise, yesterday was fun. L and C got to play outside for a little while. L can sort of reach the pedals on his bike from Santa (Santa should've checked his height and the bikes seat lowing like Mommy reminded him to do, but I digress). Maybe by Bike Day at his school in May. C is fearless...climbing quickly and quietly to the top of the playscape. What a daredevil! L still wants me out there with him. L is really picking up a few letter sounds (the teacher inside me does a great big happy dance).
Whew, I'm tired!

Super Sunday
This super bowl Sunday has been a good one...if not exhausting, but fun, nonetheless. What am I talking about?? My sweet hubby allowed me a long deserved nap...3 hours! Ahhhh, just what these Mommy bones needed today. And, I took my nap snuggled up with my 2 favorite little people, L and C snuggled and snoozing beside me. My exhaustion does not stem from today's events, but the events leading up to today.
Actually, I have only left my home 2 times briefly until this morning when I left for church. After we went to the doc on Thursday with L, we locked down into full rest and recover mode. L has a respiratory infection with ears that didn't look good (not a full-blown infection, but headed that way). So after leaving the doctor's office, we picked up C from the sitter (she wasn't really sick enough to warrant a copay and didn't need to expose her to lurking viruses), we battoned down the hatches around here. It's been wet and COLD, so we've stayed in. I actually enjoyed being here all day. I've really been working with C on the potty training. We one day with several accidents, but since then, all is doing well...except that one "shoo-ee." I had a date with my hubby thanks to my in-laws who called and ASKED to keep our children at our house. Dinner and a movie....nice! Home to kids bathed and having fun with Nana and GrandTam, wonderful. Both kiddos begged them to spend the night, and we were happy they did. It made for a lovely Saturday morning visiting and eating breakfast here together.
Saturday was spent directing C to the potty...successful for the most part...no tee-tee accidents at all! Then, dinner at Truett's Grill to celebrate L's sign-up for Pre-T-Ball. I don't know who's more excited, Daddy, GrandTam or L! So, both kiddos loved Truett's b/c of the cool train that runs along the ceiling. It's great for us, too, b/c it's Chick-fil-A food stepped up a notch! YUM! Then, we tag-teamed shopping to pick up some Crocs for GrandTam's belated b-day present. Home for baths and bed. Did I mention how many trips we made to the potty??????
Up early for nursery duty at church...by myself. Kept both kids at home with Daddy. We traded off, and he came to second service. Both kiddos ended up in our bed last night. Coughing, sniffiling, restless. No church nursery, just in case. C now has a full blown runny nose, but no cough yet. After debating on whether we should just drop off our home-group's meal (I made BBQ-the main dish) or stay, we decided to stay. Glad we did, several of the kids' noses looked just like C's. Tis the season for winter noses!
After lunch and Bible study, home for naps! Ahhh, still so thrilled I got my AWESOME nap courtesy of my AWESOME husband (who also cleaned the kitchen and straightened the house while we slept). Hubby's brother and family along with his dad and sister and our friends Thomas and Heather and their boys came for the super bowl. Low maintenance for me, Josh and Renata brought the meals (hot dogs and brats on the grill for the guys and kiddies, left over steak for steak salads for the gals, ice cream for dessert...yum!) The kids played well together, so it was nice for us to visit. Off to another fun week tomorrow! I do love Sundays, such a fresh start!
