A Observation

At lunchtime today, C didn't want anything but the pumpkin cookies we made the previous day. A long back-and-forth conversation went something like this:

C: I want some pun-kin cookies.

Me: After you eat lunch, you can have some cookies. Would you like a PB & J sandwich?

C: Sandwich is yucky! I want cookies.

Me: Would you like some chicken nuggets? (a usual favorite)

C: I don't like chicken nuggets. Chicken nuggets are yucky. That's yucky. I want cookies.

Me: No lunch, no cookies. Would you like some turkey?

C: No, turkey is yucky. I don't like to eat turkey.

Me: What about peanut butter crackers?

C: No, I want cookies! Crackers are yucky! I don't like them.

Me: Ok, you don't have to eat lunch. L and I will eat our lunch, and then we'll have cookies. You can go and get your nap while we eat. OK?

C: No, I don't want to take a nap. I want to eat lunch. I want peanut butter crackers and cheese and an apple, OK? Then, I want my pun-kin cookies, OK?

Me: Sounds good to me.

L: C, you wear me out!

Truer words haven't been spoken!
