This is one story for the books...
Monday night, I put the babes to bed while my man was at a softball game. He came home with a huge bruise on his knee where a softball had pegged him. (It's a blessing that he was not more injured.) Anyway, we talked and caught up on the day and watched my new favorite show Jon and Kate plus 8 (the show about the family who had twins then sextuplets) together. So, then I couldn't fall asleep until around 2 am. Then...at 2:35, I hear L and C crying.
I race up the stairs to find out what's going on with L...he's had a nightmare and is screaming for me at the top of the stairs. So, I scoop him up, calm him down, take him to the potty, and tell him to carefully climb into our bed. I remind him to be extra careful because, "Daddy has a bad boo-boo on his knee." Then, rush back up the stairs to calm C. I scoop her out of the crib, rock her, and quietly slip her back in the crib. (Believe it or not, she prefers her bed to snuggling with us.)
While I am rocking my princess, I am hearing some sort of conversation going on downstairs between my two men. I am shocked I'm hearing hubby talking b/c he doesn' t usually waken at all when L comes and gets in our bed. So, my first thought is that L has kicked his daddy's leg by accident.
When I arrive downstairs and try to slip into bed thinking they've both drifted back to sleep, I realize that I'm going to have to slide my little buddy over as he is right smack in the middle of my pillow, leaving me little to no room. So, when I nudge him, he pops up and says, "Mommy, I was very careful. I didn't touch the doo-doo on Daddy's leg." I busted out laughing, along with my husband, who related the previous scene to me.
It seems that L thought I said doo-doo rather than boo-boo. It's funny b/c we never say doo-doo. I mean, that's not our word for that particular function. So, Dad hears him whimpering and standing on my side of the bed after I went back upstairs to get his sister. Z tells him to hop in the bed, but L refuses. Then, Z wakens enough to realize that L's upset about something, so tries to get him to climb in the bed and snuggle to soothe him. L refuses. Then, after much cajoling L tells his dad that he just can't climb in bed b/c of the doo-doo.
Hillarious!!!
